Where did we get our (first) references of ideal facial beauty? Roman statues?

What are the parameters of beauty? Where did it start or inspire from? In the beginning, how can they say that’s beautiful and not? Is it from Roman statues?

I believe it came from Greeks. But I could be wrong.
