I want to try a facial, but not spend a lot of money. I was pretty sure it would be a bad idea, but I was just curios: would it be a bad idea to get a facial at a beauty school? I live in the north central Phoenix area, and I am thinking of Avalon School of Cosmetology.

It’s not a bad idea at all. You’ll be perfectly fine. The students are always trained before they’re allowed to perform services on a client, and the instructors are always there to supervise. Trust me hun, cosmetology students aren’t allowed to perform services on a client unless they’ve been through the lesson and graded on their work. A teacher won’t allow you to be given a facial by a student who doesn’t understand the proper procedures. Also, when you’re having the facial done, make sure to tell them if any of the product burns or irritates your skin so they can take it off immediately. Cleansers and whatnot aren’t supposed to burn or irritate, and it could be a sign that your skin is sensitive or even allergic to the product being used.

No, it is not Haram, one should look after oneself. there is no harm getting a facial. In general it is very easy to determine what is Haram and what is not. If it is clearly mentioned in the Quran that it is Haram then it is Haram, there are only two ways the Quran does that.
